When I use the word diet, I’m referring to simply “what someone eats” not a specific diet in hope of weight loss. My goal is not to shame or exclude anyone.
Nourish
My personal current diet is no starch or sugar. For me, this is no pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, or added sugar of any form. I’m not keto, paleo, Atkins, or anything specifically. I call it nourish because that’s my goal, to only eat nourishing foods.
The concept to me started when I pictured a McDonald’s value meal and then split every component into either “nourishing” or “empty, fattening calories.” In this example, the soda goes straight into the junk side, as do the fries and bun. The ketchup also goes (it has a ton of sugar). So we’re left with the beef, cheese, and any other toppings such as onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato, etc. When you picture those two piles and you see the empty calories vs what’s actually feeding your body, you’ll see why even high calorie meals can leave you feeling hungry within just hours.
